COMMUNITY SUPPORT
Community support is a significant part of our business plan with regular fundraising and awareness events including most recently a very successful “PAWS at The Precinct” day encouraging people to have a day out with their dogs and raise money for the shelter. PAWS brought some dogs down for adoption and ran some raffles and information sessions, The Precinct donated $1 per pint bought throughout the day and a number of different raffle prizes. This was built from our “Pints for Pooches” day held late last year which raised over $1k for the RSPCA when we realised people love to take part in events with their dogs and have arranged more for later this year.
It’s not all dogs though! We have also had 3 happy years of raising money for UGLY Bartender of the Year (understanding, generous, likeable, you) for the Leukaemia Foundation to provide its vital accommodation as well as holding several of their “World’s Greatest Shave” events over the years.
Earlier this year we held a motorsport night to raise money for Thomas Maxwell’s campaign to compete internationally representing the Northern Territory as our local boy racer. We borrowed a Porsche 911 to park at the entrance of the Beer Garden, charged an entrance fee and held raffles and auctions with all proceeds going to Tom.
Last year saw the Royal Flying Doctor Service celebrate 90 years and we were very privileged to hold part of their celebration family fun day raising both funds and awareness for the service.
Healthy Harold from Life Education has joined us for a couple of awareness nights and the list goes on with charity support nights.
Alongside fundraising events, we also assist with offering free of charge spaces to groups wanting to hold networking, team building, celebrations and a like, organising food, drink, music and decorations as required. This last year we have worked closely with the NTCB and NT Tourism to hold families for people around the globe encouraging groups to Darwin and helping support our tourism industry.
On a more personal level, we regularly hold beer training sessions with our staff and other hospitality staff, bring brewers from around the country to come speak about their beer and brewery, hold beer & food matching couples and even speak one on one to customers at the bar about different types of beer and how to choose a flavour they will enjoy.
